Streamlining Government

QUESTION (Facebook):Are there any initiatives that would drive productivity of our local government? More services from lower expenditures?

My response: Making city services easier online, cutting red tape, working with other cities to save money on procurements, using technology smarter, getting contractor help when needed (vs hiring more employees) for non-core services, cutting govt waste, investing in green projects (solar panels, wind turbines, etc around the city to reduce electricity costs), and having minor offenders work for restitution (petty crimes, graffiti, etc) instead of fines thereby reducing the workload for staff.
