My response:

​It has nothing to do with staffing. Fire bans are issued regularly throughout the 'wildfire season' because of hot, dry conditions (like the +29'C+ temps and no rain we're experiencing this week).

Again, I agree we need more staffing. I am the only Candidate who has offered a number in fact (a 25% increase in firemedics to 242), but that is not why there is a fire ban.

I know everyone is quick to use that as the excuse with all of the nonsense going on in Nova Scotia, but the fire ban would have taken place (and has) if we were staffed 100% or not. Sometimes it's necessary to enforce common sense when some people fail to use common sense.

You do mention a good point though, even with proper staffing, the Fire Services doesn't want or have time and resources to waste on some twit lighting a fire in their backyard intentionally that got out of control when a house is burning down with people trapped inside it a few blocks away.
