My response: ​While I agree with the ward system and we should re-visit the idea our current system was based on a 2013 plebiscite – I’m not sure right this moment if a vote was taken since then, but “Red Deer voters have decisively rejected switching to a ward system, with 71.7 per cent of plebiscite respondents preferring to maintain an at-large voting system. With 46 of 46 polls reported on Monday evening, 13,314 voted against a ward system; 5,240 voted for it.“. The problem here is, as I have said before, not enough people even care or bother to vote and that Is disappointing. I think though, if it was 2013, then it is time to ask Red Deerians again what they think about a ward system – perhaps a hybrid design.
