My Position

I want to be clear with Red Deerians: my position on safe-injection, harm-reduction, or overdose-prevention programs has not changed. While these programs may have prevented some overdoses—481 in Red Deer over 6.5 years—they do not successfully address or prevent the core issue: drug use itself. For that reason, I do not support continuing them.

My vision is different. My campaign and my Cannery Row project focus on Reduction, Rehabilitation, Recovery, and Reintegration—helping people who want to break free from addiction, supporting the homeless who want off the streets, and assisting those working to rebuild their lives.

After hearing various arguments—too often based on fear or weak evidence—I have decided that taxpayer money in Red Deer should not support programs that enable continued drug use. If private organizations wish to fund such services, that is their choice, but public funds and facilities should focus on real solutions that address the root problem and help people recover.
