CPR Bridge, Niitsitapi Park, South Riverside Trail Park

I'd stopped updating this back in November, but that will change in the next week or so as I upload all of the pictures and videos I've taken of this publicly funded project.

City of Red Deer Budget for CPR Bridge Rehabilitation and Landscaping

The budget for this project is $22.3 million. Federal Grant funding is in place for $11.1 million with the remaining $11.2 million in the approved City budget.
  • $20.0 million – CPR Bridge Rehabilitation and Contaminated Soil Removal
  • $2.3 million – Public Realm Upgrades (plazas, enhanced pathways, area lighting, landscaping)

This includes earmarking $170,000 for "art installation(s)" in the parks. 

The rehabilitation project includes:
  • Removal of old 55 Street underpass bridge along the south pathway approach (completed)
  • Reconstruction of timber trestle
  • Replacement of concrete foundations
  • Contaminated soil removal
  • Repair/replacement of corroded steel truss elements
  • Repainting of steel trusses
  • Replacement of timber deck with new durable surface
  • Pedestrian level lighting upgrades on and approaching the bridge
  • Public realm improvements
    • Installation of gathering plaza at north end of bridge
    • Realignment and enhancement of existing pathways
    • Installation of landscaping and amenities (seating areas, trees, and plantings)
